Direct Sales
Direct sales focuses on bringing a product to the end user in the straightest possible path. A direct sales force will knock on doors and present product (as the name implies) directly to the end user.
What are the Different Types of Direct Sales?
There are two basic categories -- telesales and door to door. Sales can be to the consumer, commercial, or industrial marketplaces. The one commonality will be a one time close. The objective of each sales call is to close. The "buy now" or loss the opportunity is the mantra of the direct sales person. A good example of direct sales: Girl Scout Cookies. The neighborhood Girl Scout will knock on your door and sell you right then and there. Kirby Vacuum Cleaners also fit this mold. On the industrial side you will find chemical companies and workers comp insurers.
What are the Benefits of This Type of Selling?
If you enjoy fast paced, hard driving sales, this is for you. Numbers is the name of the game and your ability to call on a great number of prospects without letting the "no's" get you down will lead to your success here. Definitely not for the weak of heart, but also very lucrative because generally speaking, the commission are much higher here than with other sales segments.
