Route sales differs greatly in that some position focus more heavily on the "sales" and others more so on the "route." Just as in all types of sales the definition depends on the company and how they bring their product to market. Some companies will have established routes like vending machines, where your job is mostly assuring the machine is full and the money is collected. Others will require a small amount of sales such as coffee routes and brand name food products. Others will require that you establish your own accounts like chemical companies and industrial products.
