How do Penetrants work?
Most Penetrants active ingredient is a non-volatile, viscous oil which remains on the surface, providing lubrication and protection from moisture. In most cases it is diluted with a propellant to give a low viscosity fluid which can be sprayed witch in turn will get into the small caps between the mated parts. The propellant then evaporates, leaving the oil behind.
